Tony Gavros was first a student and then became a master in one of the hardest, most fickle industries that exists in business. Tony has spent 21 years working in, managing for, consulting with and then selling all kinds of businesses within the food & beverage industry. If you can enter a restaurant and tell what is going on within a few feet from the door, you can probably have a very good conversation with Tony. From opening up corporate locations for restaurant or night club guru’s all across the country to selling quality food & beverage opportunities all across Chicagoland, Tony has a unique pulse on what makes sense all across the industry.

Tony started working in the restaurant industry when he was 15 years old and for the past decade has specialized in selling all food and beverage related business entities. Throughout high school Tony worked full-time managing a franchised pizza restaurant. In his senior year of high school, the owner of the restaurant asked him to partner up and expand the business by opening up other locations. Tony turned down the offer in order to pursue his education, but while he attended college, he still continued to manage restaurants. In the early 1990’s Tony began working for business owners in a consulting capacity. These business owners had anywhere from 10 – 250 business locations. They would send him to the locations that were struggling and he would turn them around and maximize profit. In the mid to late 1990’s, Tony started creating new concepts and opening businesses for many of those same or new clients. Once the businesses were open and operating on all cylinders, he would move on to the next project. Then in the late 1990’s he started working for a business brokerage company after being approached by the owner who had observed him for a long time at a high end business Tony had helped build & staff. The brokerage owner had 25 years experience in selling businesses, but he had very little knowledge of anything relative to the food & beverage industry. For 4 years Tony helped him expand his business while also continuing with his education. During this time he also acquired both a Real Estate Broker’s License and a Business Broker’s License. In addition to that, he also attended numerous intensive courses of studying and continuing education on subjects such as; Acquisitions, Accounting, Reading & Understanding Financial Statements, Business Valuation Practices, Business Valuation Methods, Negotiating & Deal Making, Financing, Real Estate Investing, Income Property Appraisal, and Business Brokerage Management & Startup.

Tony joined forces with Dennis Hansmann at the turn of the century to develop a “Main Street to Mid-Level” business brokerage that they named American Business Acquisitions. Given Tony’s past history in business operations, he understands the key elements of analyzing a business. With that is mind, both partners make confidentiality their top priority when preparing to evaluate a business for sale and their preparation makes them ready to respond appropriately to any circumstance that may arise. With each transaction, ABA takes their time up-front to prepare so that they can not only help determine the value of a business, but so that they can also justify and defend a Client’s business value every step of the way.
